Patrick Carpentier/Alex Tagliani “Sweet Victory” Limited Edition Signed Lithographic Print

Titled “Sweet Victory”.

Patrick Carpentier wins his first Champ Car race at the Michigan 500 July 22, 2001

Depicting what most will say is one of the greatest finishes in Champ Car history. With only a few laps remaining, at the restart after a brief caution period, Carpentier, Franchitti and Jourdain were battling for the win. Alex Tagliani, while one lap down, got a jump on the trio. He pulled in front of his Players/Forsythe team mate Carpentier, providing him with an aerodynamic pull, easily leaving the other two drivers in the dust. Just prior to the finish line, Carpentier pulled a ‘sling shot’ move around Tagliani to take the checkered flag.

After the race, the two team mates embraced and Carpentier uttered a few words to fellow French speaking Canadian Tagliani. When the media asked to translate, Patrick smiled and said “sweet” knowing full well he couldn’t repeat in english what he had just said to Tag.

Huntingtons depiction recreates this historic finish as it was that summer afternoon.
